Out of the darkened back rooms and locked doors of the U.S. Capitol Building lurks the Ghost of Government Health Care Future, known more affectionately as the "public option" plan. And it's come to warn us, through the example of it's own slow, painful demise, just what life with government-run health care looks like.
We know two things from recent polls out of Massachusetts, and they're both tied to national health care reform. The first is unsurprising: a Democrat has a slim lead in the special election to replace Ted Kennedy in the United States Senate, which would maintain the 60-vote Senate majority Democrats need to pass a health care reform bill this year.
